Kathmandu. Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA), in collaboration with VISA, conducted a cybersecurity awareness and capacity building programme in all seven provinces of Nepal aimed at strengthening cyber security in the banking sector of Nepal.

The program was organized in the context of the increasing cases of cyber risk, online fraud and digital fraud in the financial sector with the rapid expansion of digital banking services. In view of these challenges seen in the financial system in recent times, the program was focused on capacity building and awareness of the employees of the banking sector.

Identification of cyber risks, trends of digital fraud, and measures to reduce risk were discussed in detail in the province-level programs. It also stressed on the need to follow safe practices in the banking system and the precautions to be taken to prevent such incidents from happening and to continuously inform the bank’s customers about this.

More than 300 people including State Chiefs, branch managers and employees of various levels of banks from all seven provinces attended the program. We hope that the program will contribute to making the overall financial system safer and stronger.

Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA) will continue to conduct such programs in collaboration with the stakeholders and will contribute to strengthening cyber security in the banking sector.
