Chairman Oli, leader Lekhak sent to custody for two more days

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has remanded CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress leader and former home minister Ramesh Lekhak to judicial custody for two more days.

According to court registrar Tirtha Raj Bhattarai, the court had on March 29 granted the court to extend the remand by five days. Earlier, a single bench of Justice Ananda Prasad Shrestha had extended the custody for five days.

The government attorney had demanded that Oli and the leader Lekhak be kept in custody for 10 days and the investigation should be forwarded.

During the Genji movement, UML Chairman Oli was the Prime Minister and Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak was the Home Minister. The commission formed to investigate the repression during the agitation had recommended to initiate action against Oli and leader Lekhak in criminal cases. An arrest warrant was issued against Oli and the writer on Saturday.
