. A meeting of both houses of the federal parliament is taking place today.

The meeting of the House of Representatives is scheduled for 11:TAG_OPEN_span_8 00 am today at the multi-purpose hall of the under-construction Federal Parliament Building at Singha Durbar. The meeting is scheduled to present a proposal seeking the election of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Vice-President Dol Prasad Aryal to the post of Speaker.

Aryal was elected unopposed to the post of Speaker on Friday. Rabi Lamichhane proposed Aryal’s candidacy while lawmakers Swarnim Wagle, Sobita Gautam and Sunil Lamsal seconded it. The meeting is likely to table the proposal to elect the Speaker.

Similarly, the meeting of the National Assembly is taking place at 12:15 pm in Singha Durbar. The Speaker will nominate and change the names of the thematic committee members in the meeting. The Speaker will nominate the names of the members to preside over the meeting in the absence of the chairperson and the Vice-Chairperson.

As per the schedule, Prime Minister Balendra Shah is scheduled to present the annual report of the Women Commission for the fiscal year 2081/82, according to Federal Parliament Secretariat General Secretary Padma Prasad Pandey.
