Kanchanpur. KANCHANPUR: The process to scrap the contracts of various road projects in Kanchanpur district that have been stalled for long has begun.

The process of annulling the contracts of the road which has not improved has been started by the Infrastructure Development Office and the Division Road Office, Mahendranagar, which have been in limbo for a long time and ignored verbal and written warnings. The Office has initiated the process to terminate the contract by issuing a 15-day public notice.

Information Officer at Infrastructure Development Office, Kanchanpur, Laxman Raj Joshi, said that the contract for road projects which had been stalled for a long is being terminated as per the Public Procurement Act-2063 and Public Procurement Regulations-2064 BS and prevailing laws.

“We have started the process to scrap the contracts of 25 road projects that had left the road construction in limbo despite repeated reminders”, he said÷. ”

According to the Infrastructure Development Office, the progress of most of the road projects started from the fiscal year 2076÷77 BS is minimal. Locals have been complaining that the contractors have been delaying the construction works.

Similarly, the Road Division Office, Mahendranagar 2078÷79 has started the process of annulling the contracts that have not been completed, said Hari Prasad Joshi, information officer at the Road Division Office.

According to the office, the expansion of roads at various places along the Attariya-Gaddachauki section of the East-West Highway and upgrading of the Khutiya-Urma-Bhada road section of Kailali have been stalled. As per the contract agreement, the contractor has started the process to terminate the contract after the construction company failed to complete the construction of the road despite repeated reminders.

Most of the roads in rural areas are on the list of contracts to be terminated. The locals have been facing a lot of trouble in commuting due to the lack of construction of these roads.
