Let’s go to Kathmandu. Smart Choice Technologies (SCT) and Citi Tech Group have signed a strategic partnership agreement.
According to the agreement, the agreement is in place to make the digital payment acceptance system in Nepal more modern, effective and expandable.
After the agreement, Cititech’s hardware will be able to accept payment through SCT’s platform in FinPOS. The digital payments can be made through dynamic QR system along with card schemes such as Visa, Union Pay, NepalPay among others.
The partnership will combine SCT’s robust payment infrastructure with Cititech’s advanced FinPoS technology, providing seamless and extensible PoS devices for banks, financial institutions and merchants.
This service is expected to be beneficial especially for banks and payment service providers willing to undertake the PoS acquisition business. This solution will also be financially effective as it reduces the hassle of subscribing to different card schemes, high investment in technology, and the security certification process.
SCT has been prioritizing the expansion of digital payment systems, increasing access and innovation. The company has taken the collaboration with FinPOS as an important step in this commitment.
Currently, SCT has been issuing SCT-UnionPay cards through 24 banks and financial institutions and more than 100 cooperatives. The company has been issuing SCT-UnionPay and Visa cards through its Smart Switch system and accepts RuPay, MasterCard and Discover cards.
SCT is Nepal’s first domestic card scheme that has been providing secure, simple and reliable payment service across Nepal for the last two decades. Along with card services, the company also provides smart QR, smart pay interbank payment service and mobile banking solution.
