Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has imposed fines on three firms.
The department has imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on Shankar Food Grocery Store based in Kuleshwor after it was found to be negligent during an on-site inspection.
Similarly, a fine of Rs 20,000 has been imposed on MDR Store in Kuleshwar. A fine of five thousand has been imposed on Gupta Gudpak Bhandar in Gongabu. The department has clarified that action has been taken against these firms as per the Consumer Protection Act, 2075.
The Department has monitored a total of 39 firms in a single day and has issued corrective directives to 36 firms. The Department has been regularly monitoring and inspecting the market in the presence of consumer rights activists and stakeholders.
