NADA’s contribution to revenue and employment, automobile industry needs protection

.  A team led by NADA President Surendra Kumar Upreti met with Revenue Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Bhupal Baral, today. During the meeting, problems related to Nepal’s automobile sector were discussed in detail.

During the discussion, Chairman Upreti said that some policies and regulations need to be changed to make Nepal’s automobile sector dynamic which is in a weak state and this will increase the revenue and employment of the government.TAG_OPEN_div_32

During the discussion with the automobile representatives, Revenue Secretary Bhupal Baral said that the suggestions received from NADA are implementable and he is also aware of these problems.TAG_OPEN_div_30

In this context, Chairman Upreti said that the CKD industry also creates employment and there is a need for component industries for its stability and the government should encourage the establishment of such industries.TAG_OPEN_div_28

He said that this would increase employment in the country and also contribute to the national economy through revenue.TAG_OPEN_div_26 Similarly, NADA President Uprety said that although some automobiles are manufactured in Nepal, the government does not have the equipment to measure their quality.

In the discussion, Karan Chaudhary, the immediate past president of NADA, said that it is very important to increase the loan-to-value ratio and if this ratio is increased, the sales of vehicles will also increase, it will not only increase employment but also increase the revenue of the government.TAG_OPEN_div_24 He did.

Similarly, NADA Special Advisor Rajan Babu Shrestha said that the government has been categorizing vehicles as luxury goods, saying that the expansion of the automobile industry will increase revenue and employment.TAG_OPEN_div_22

In this connection, NADA advisor Shrestha said that due to the decrease in GST in India, the export of smuggling has increased.TAG_OPEN_div_20 Stating that time has come to adjust the tariff, Shrestha urged the government to keep the automobile industry in top priority.

During the same discussion, NADA General Secretary Milan Babu Malla said that NADA is ready to cooperate with the government in the context of some questions raised regarding the measurement of peak power of electric vehicles imported into Nepal.TAG_OPEN_div_18 NADA Vice-President Bikram Singhania and Secretary Meghraj Poudel were also present in the meeting.
