Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)’s Lama and Labor Culture Party’s Thakur are vying for the post of Deputy Speaker.

Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)’s Saraswati Lama and Labour Sanskriti Party’s Ruby Kumari Thakur have filed their candidacies for the post of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Lama’s candidacy was proposed by Gyan Bahadur Shahi and seconded by Tahir Ali Bhat, Khusbu Oli and Bharat Giri. Thakur’s candidacy was proposed by Aren Rai while Ashok Kumar Chaudhary and Ambika Devi Sangraula seconded it.

As per the work schedule of the House of Representatives, the time from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm today for registering the notice of proposal as per Rule 8 (2) of the House of Representatives Regulations, 2079 for the election of a member to the post of Deputy Speaker has been fixed from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The deadline for publishing the list of registered candidates has been set at 2:30 pm. The candidacy notice will be tabled for decision in the meeting to be held at 4:00 pm on April 11 after discussion on the proposal of the candidate proposed by the proposer and seconded by the supporters.

As per the constitutional provision, the speaker and deputy speaker will be represented by different political parties and gender. Dol Prasad Aryal of Rastriya Swatantra Party was elected unopposed to the post of Speaker in the first session of the House of Representatives held on March 4.
