Kathmandu. In line with the long-term goal of strengthening digital governance, the government has launched a campaign to provide citizen services online.

In this context, the provision of obtaining personal details of civil servants, admit cards of Public Service Commission candidates and ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) required for foreign study has reached the final stage through the citizen app. Director General of the Department of Information Technology, Chandra Sah informed that the system is currently in the trial phase and it will be fully operational within a week.

This issue was mentioned in point number 35 under the ‘One Hundred Agenda on Governance Reforms’ approved by the Council of Ministers on March 27. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has asked the bodies concerned to complete the works within the stipulated time by preparing an action plan with a time-frame for the implementation of this point.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Dr. On the occasion, Bikram Timilsina directed the subordinate bodies to integrate additional services through the Nagarik app and expedite the expansion of service through digital platforms. Following the ministerial-level directive, the Department of Information Technology has started coordinating with various government and technical bodies.

Director General Sah said that the process has been started to provide the certificates of professional engineers through the citizen app by signing an agreement with the Nepal Engineering Council.

With the implementation of the new system, citizens will be able to get various important services through Nagarik App. Under this, the candidates of the Public Service Commission will be able to get the admit card, the ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) required for foreign studies and the civil servants will be able to get their personal details from the citizen app.

Before this, the facility of obtaining Police Character Certificate (Police Clearance Report) has been brought into operation through Nagarik App. With the integration of more services, the government’s plan to make Nagarik a ‘one-stop digital service platform’ is expected to be further strengthened.
