Kathmandu. The production and sale of these products has been banned following a monitoring of Bagmati Sweets Pvt Ltd based in Tripureshwor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-11 as per the direction of Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development and Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary.

The company had provided lunch at a public function on April 29. Minister Chaudhary directed the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control to monitor the food after receiving complaints of inedible items in the snacks.

As per the directive, a joint team from the Department and the District Administration Office, Kathmandu on April 30 found serious deficiencies in sanitation and quality.

Meanwhile, Minister Chaudhary said that the government was serious about the food hygiene of the general public and would take stern action if any complaints were received.
