Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The relations between Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and Nepal Police are to be further strengthened on road safety, urban security and urban management.
During the meeting held between Acting Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki, discussed on the present situation and necessity in road safety, urban security and urban management.
During the meeting, acting chief Dangol said, “We want to collaborate with Nepal Police in road safety and traffic management, conservation of encroached public land and promotion of public use, management of unsystematic settlement, urban management and campaign of making the city free of road beggars.” “The Metropolitan Police Force will be strengthened with the support of Nepal Police,” she said. This will bring about the change that citizens will feel. ’
On the occasion, IGP Karki said that he was ready to provide necessary support to the metropolis. “The Kathmandu Valley Police Office will coordinate the activities of the metropolis. For this, we have appointed a focal person. “We have expected support from the metropolis to develop a system where the human resource is less and results are more by increasing citizen participation and use of technology through awareness-raising programmes,” he added. ’
On the occasion, issues like control of drug abuse, smoking and alcohol consumption in public places, parking management, traffic management and road signs, security of night bus and morning bus service and participation of Nepal Police in road service under the ‘Road Man-free Kathmandu campaign’ were discussed in the meeting.
The meeting was attended by KMC Chief Administrative Officer Saroj Guragain, KMC officials and Manav Sewa Ashram chair Ramji Adhikari and other representatives.
