Kathmandu. Nabil Bank has initiated skill-oriented financial literacy and entrepreneurship development training at 16 rural locations of the country.
The training that started from Wednesday at Sinja Rural Municipality of Jumla will be conducted in 15 more places within the current fiscal year. The training will be conducted in collaboration with local levels of Koshi, Madhesh, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. According to the bank, the training will be conducted targeting about five hundred people who are running and want to start an agriculture-based business.
According to Chief Executive Officer of Nabil Bank Manoj Kumar Gyawali, the training will provide practical knowledge on savings, budget making, debt management, insurance, investment options among others. “The training aims to empower the participants in financial literacy, reduce unemployment, encourage them to start new businesses and promote sustainable economic growth through entrepreneurship development,” he said.
The bank is conducting the training to encourage people living in rural areas to become self-reliant as part of their corporate social responsibility by embracing the concept of sustainable banking. The training will identify the interests of the farmers of the rural areas and accordingly provide them with the necessary information and skills to make them self-reliant.
The participants will acquire technical knowledge on goat rearing, pig rearing, buffalo keeping, mushroom farming, vegetable farming, among others, identifying business opportunities, marketing and financial management, among others.
The programme has also put forward the concept of sustainable banking, and has prioritized environment-friendly, socially responsible and long-term economic investments.
