Local levels in Jumla to open schools even on Sunday

Jumla. Out of the eight local levels of Jumla, three local levels will continue to operate schools on Sunday.

Kanakasundari, Sinja and Tatopani rural municipalities have issued a public notice to continue the teaching learning activities on Sunday as well, citing that a two-day public holiday would not cover the curriculum as per the existing curriculum.

According to Nanda Prasad Chaulagain, chairperson of Tatopani Rural Municipality, all the 29 community schools in the rural municipality will come into operation from April 29. Sinja Rural Municipality has started regular classes in all the schools within the rural municipality from April 22, said Purna Prasad Dhital, chairperson of the rural municipality.

Kanakasundari Rural Municipality of the district has started regular classes from April 21, said Premakali Budha, the rural municipality’s vice chairperson. Although the government of Nepal has decided to start the admission campaign from April 25 and regular classes from April 21 for the academic session 2083, the Kanakasundari, Sinja and Tatopani rural municipalities have started the academic session as per their own academic calendar.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal on March 26 had decided to give a public holiday on Saturday and Sunday for two days in a week. As per the decision of the Council of Ministers, the Education and Human Resource Development Centre, Sanothimi, Bhaktapur had written to all the 77 districts on April 9 to follow the directives given by the government.
