Kathmandu. Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security Ramji Yadav has announced three important works on the occasion of International Workers’ Day.
Issuing a video message on the occasion of the 137th International Workers’ Day today, Minister Yadav said that the five-year National Occupational Safety and Health Programme has been officially launched under the first announcement. The program will ensure every worker’s right to safety, health and a safe working environment.
Minister Yadav said that a Facebook Live programme would be conducted once a week by the Labour Attaché and Consular at Nepali Embassy in foreign countries for direct dialogue with Nepali workers in foreign countries, information dissemination and resolving problems. “Wherever you are now, the government is with you,” he said.
In the third announcement, Minister Yadav said that the workers who have joined the contribution-based social security fund will be provided loan at 6 percent interest rate for the purchase of land. Apart from this, arrangements have been made to take loan up to Rs 1.50 crore as per the rules. In addition, policy reforms, institutional restructuring and new job creation programs are also moving forward, he said.
In his video message, Minister Yadav said the government was committed to ensuring fair wages, dignified work environment and labour rights to the workers of all sectors.
“Labor is not limited to any one profession or class. From construction workers to doctors treating patients, from farmers toiling in fields to legal practitioners working for justice, from domestic workers assisting in household chores to engineers who develop technology to teachers who spread the light of knowledge, we are all workers,” he said.
Stating that all of us have been contributing to nation building from our respective places, he said that on this special day, it is necessary to further strengthen the culture of respecting and expressing gratitude to each other by understanding and respecting each other’s contributions.
