Kathmandu. According to the Defense Ministry’s quarterly target for the current fiscal year, more than 80 percent progress has been made. This information was shared in a meeting of the Ministry’s Progress Review and Ministry-level Development Problems Resolution Committee held here today.

Koshi corridor (Chyamtang-Ghonghpapa) road project, Karnali road project and Benighat-Arughat-Larkebhanjyang road project have achieved 100 per cent physical progress during the period. Similarly, the progress of Mahakali Corridor (Tusharpani-Tinkar) road project is 82.99 per cent and that of National Chure Conservation Programme is 80 per cent.

Similarly, the Kathmandu-Tarai-Madhes fast track project has made 34.4 per cent progress, the National Defence University 35.73 per cent and the bunker to barrack project 23.50 per cent progress.

Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel said that the construction of the corridor has not been able to work as per its capacity due to the lack of budget required for opening the track. Saying their attention was more focused on completing the fast-track project, he hoped that it would be easier in the present situation to resolve the challenges seen in the project.

On the occasion, Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Kedarnath Sharma pointed out the need of coordination and cooperation at the Ministry as it would be difficult to resolve other obstacles and challenges seen in the project.

Pratiyaksha University Chairman Balananda Sharma urged the government to forward the bill in this regard immediately for the operation of the university and to upgrade the necessary access road. On the occasion, Joint-Secretary at the Ministry, Krishna Poudel, made a presentation on the progress review of the progress and the representatives of different ministries expressed commitment for necessary coordination and cooperation.
