Kathmandu. The election of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has concluded. After the election results, the Anjan Shrestha group has got a super majority in the FNJ.

Former President Chandra Dhakal Group and Anjan Shrestha Group elected as President were in the FNCCI election. The Shrestha group has got a super majority in the election. Most of the people elected are from the elite group. The panel of the Shrestha group has won the election. Of the 17 members, only one is from the Dhakal faction. Female members were also elected from Shrestha group.

The FNCCI executive committee will elect the post of senior vice-president. The federation’s statute provides for this. Prior to this, the Dhakal group had promoted Hemraj Dhakal as the senior vice-president. However, the Shrestha group has not decided any of the three candidates. The names of Bharat Acharya, Ram Chandra Sanghai and Sur Krishna Vaidya were doing the rounds for the post of senior vice-president from Shrestha’s group. This discussion is still going on.

Since the Anjan faction has almost won a majority in the election, it is certain that one of Acharya, Sanghai and Vaidya will be elected. The Shrestha group and Pandey group will decide who will be made in the federation. The question now is whether the Shrestha and Pandey groups will choose the senior party on consensus or show strength.

Likewise, Ambika Poudel, who secured 1183 votes out of 17 winners from the Shrestha group, has been named as the treasurer of the federation. The meeting of the newly elected executive members of the federation will elect the senior vice-president and treasurer. With Shrestha winning the FNCCI with a majority, he is likely to dominate the decision, appointment and nomination process.

The Shrestha faction has won all the posts except one member in the associate category.

Shiva Prasad Ghimire of Shrestha panel was defeated by 3 votes while Naresh Lal Shrestha of Dhakal panel won the vice-chairperson’s post. Similarly, the Dhakal group has dominated the commodity.

In the district and town, Chairman Shrestha was seen dominating.

Krishna Prasad Sharma and Dil Sundar Shrestha have been elected vice-chairpersons of the district. The Dhakal group was seen as weak in the district. Out of the 15 executive members in the district, 13 were elected from the Anjan faction.

The elections were held on March 4 after the Jenji agitation on September 23 and 24. The Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) has emerged as the largest party with nearly two-thirds majority in the election. Anjan Shrestha has been elected as the leader of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) with a two-thirds majority. It remains to be seen how this leadership will take the demands and expectations of the private sector to the government.
