. Heritage Conservation Nepal’s Heritage Conservation Campaign has demanded the dismantling of the Chhayadevi Complex constructed by burying the historical, archeological, religious and cultural importance Kamal Pokhari at Kathmandu metropolis-26, Thamel.
The campaigners had put up placards at Maitighar Mandala today. They complained that the government did not pay attention to the construction of private buildings by encroaching on the heritages of historical, archeological, religious and cultural importance during the regime of the erstwhile government. According to them, the protest was held to create awareness on the issue as the present government was vacating the public land as it ignored the complaints made at that time.
Heritage Conservation Nepal’s President Kabir Dangol said the campaign would continue until the Kamalpokhari in Thamel was restored in its original style.
With the slogan ‘Let’s save heritages, save public ponds’, the campaigners said that the structures constructed encroaching upon Kamal Pokhari in Thamel are against the law as it is a public place.
