Govt to collect digital data of landless and unsystematic settlers in Kathmandu

. KATHMANDU: The Development Authority of Kathmandu Valley is to collect integrated digital data of landless squatters and unsystematic settlers.

According to Deepa Dahal, press and research expert of Prime Minister Balendra Shah, preparations for digital data collection have reached the final stage.TAG_OPEN_div_26 According to him, in the first phase, the integrated digital data of those who are currently in or outside the holding centers in Kathmandu would be collected and then in other districts gradually.

} The government shall issue a public notice to the persons who do not reside in the holding center and request them to appear at the data collection center with the necessary documents within the stipulated time.

There are three types of applicants classified for data collection

. The details will be collected in separate categories of people who have national identity card, citizenship card and no identity card. For those who do not have identity cards, arrangements will be made to make national identity cards through a joint desk at the holding center.

The digital system will include personal and family details, socio-economic status, income source, occupation, educational qualification, health condition, skills and land details of each person.TAG_OPEN_div_20 Data including biometric and photo will be collected and cross-checked with other government systems.

TAG_OPEN_div_18 Every family participating in the digital data collection will be provided with a digital ID card. Arrangements will be made to open the accounts of those who do not have bank accounts and the relief, grants and rehabilitation assistance to be provided by the government will be distributed through the same bank account.

} The government plans to link this system with rehabilitation, employment, entrepreneurship and social security schemes. It will be helpful to implement the necessary government plans on the basis of the skills, health condition, chronic diseases, pregnancy and income related details of the family members to be collected.

Point No. 91 of the 100 Agenda for Governance Reforms of the government mentions the collection and authentication of integrated digital data of landless squatters and unorganized settlers across the country.TAG_OPEN_div_14 Prime Minister Shah has already informed about this publicly.
