Kathmandu. Nageshwor Mahadev Temple at Gothatar of Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-9 has been robbed. According to Prakash Rayamajhi, chairman of the temple protection and management committee, the coffin kept at the temple was stolen on Saturday night.

He said that the priest did not see the box of offerings during the worship this morning.

The boxes contained around Rs 8 to 10 lakh as they were not opened after the Mahashivaratri festival. The police beat set up for the security of the temple was removed after the Jenji agitation in August. The committee had been demanding the reinstatement of the police beat.

The Nageshwar Temple located in Gaucharan of Pashupati area has been shifted to Gothatar in course of the expansion of Tribhuvan International Airport.
