Policies and Programmes: Health Insurance Programmes to be Restructured

. The government has announced restructuring of the health insurance programme. President Ram Chandra Poudel presented the policy and programmes for the upcoming fiscal year while addressing a joint session of the federal parliament on Monday.

The government’s policies and programmes have also mentioned expanding capacity of community health workers and women health volunteers.
The bill states that special counseling services would be provided to the people of remote areas through ‘telehealth’, ‘Center for Digital Control’ would be formed for disease surveillance and control, and National Health Accreditation Authority would be formed for improving the quality of health service.TAG_OPEN_div_12
Similarly, a National Biological Studies Laboratory will be established at the federal level to enhance biological studies and epidemic control capacity.TAG_OPEN_div_10 For the control and prevention of cancer and non-communicable diseases, prevention, public awareness, regular check-ups and lifestyle-based strategies will be implemented rather than treatment.
Likewise, implementation of the National Mental Health Policy, Yoga, Meditation and Expansion and Promotion of Community-based Health Programs by considering mental health as an integral part of public health are also included in the program.TAG_OPEN_div_8 Likewise, the government’s policy and programmes also states that a well-equipped disability rehabilitation centre would be set up and special programmes would be conducted for children with intellectual disabilities with assistive technology.
