Govt preparing to implement G-Cloud and National Data Policy

Kathmandu. The government is set to establish a national digital infrastructure in line with the ‘Digital Good Governance Blueprint’ and develop a central coordination system for the implementation of the G-cloud and Data Policy.

President Ram Chandra Poudel presented the policy and programs for the upcoming fiscal year in a joint meeting of the federal parliament on Thursday.

The policies and programs have stated that a knowledge-based economy would be built by promoting innovation and start-ups through the use of data, artificial intelligence (AI), digital technology and cybersecurity. Likewise, it is stated that the expansion of new technology in the telecommunications sector, the formulation of standards for radio frequency management and effective monitoring system would be strengthened. In addition, digital access will be expanded to remote areas to reduce the digital divide.

The regulatory structure would be strengthened in coordination among the federal, provincial and local levels for transparent and accountable management of advertisement and communication. Technological, modernization and digital transformation of postal services have also been prioritized.

Similarly, the government has adopted a policy to develop films, documentaries, photography and digital content as industries. The goal is to establish Nepal as an attractive destination for international film shooting and production of creative materials by promoting natural and cultural heritage in the international market.
