People hit by inflation, economic growth target nears

. The current economic and financial situation of the country has been revealed by the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). According to the data released by the Nepal Rastra Bank, the annual consumer price inflation stood at 4.47 percent in the first six months of the current fiscal year. The year-on-year consumer price inflation stood at 3.62 percent in the same month last March. Consumer price inflation increased by 0.85 percent year-on-year in a month.

Likewise, it was 3.TAG_OPEN_div_24 39 percent in the corresponding month of the previous year. Food and beverages inflation stood at 4.01 percent while non-food and service inflation stood at 4.72 percent in March. In the corresponding period of the previous year, inflation of these groups was 2.45 percent and 3.90 percent, respectively.

The nine-month average inflation of the fiscal year 2082÷83 was 2.39 percent. In the corresponding period of the previous year, the average inflation rate was 4.57 percent. In the review month, the Consumer Price Index of Ghee and Oil sub-group under the food and beverage group increased by 12.87 percent, fruits by 11.67 percent and that of vegetables by 9.18 percent. The Consumer Price Index of Pulses and Legumes sub-group decreased by 2.78 percent, food and spices by 1.68 percent and spices by 1.64 percent.

Likewise, the Consumer Price Index of Miscellaneous Goods and Services sub-group increased by 19.94 percent, transport by 12.03 percent, education by 7.46 percent, alcoholic beverages by 4.77 percent and clothing and footwear by 4.73 percent.TAG_OPEN_div_20

The year-on-year Consumer Price Index (CPI) of the rural areas has increased by 3.71 percent and the urban areas by 4.7 TAG_OPEN_div_18 4 percent in the month of March.

Year-TAG_OPEN_div_16 on-year consumer price inflation in Koshi Province stood at 4.98 percent, Madhesh Province at 4.91 percent, Bagmati Province at 4.20 percent, Gandaki Province at 3.85 percent, Lumbini Province at 5.15 percent, Karnali Province at 3.82 percent and Sudur Paschim Province at 3.39 percent.

Year-on-year consumer price inflation stood at 4.69 percent in Kathmandu Valley, 4.83 percent in Terai, 4.18 percent in Hilly region and 3.20 percent in Mountainous region during the review month.TAG_OPEN_div_14
