Banke. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has started a drive to collect dues by disconnecting power lines.

According to Sanjay Kumar Mishra, chief of Nepal Electricity Authority’s Nepalgunj distribution centre, the NEA has started the campaign to recover the arrears by disconnecting the power of some 5,500 consumers who have not paid their dues for a long time.

According to him, 4,500 consumers have reinstalled the power line after paying electricity bills after disconnecting the power supply of consumers who have not paid their dues for a long time. The Nepalgunj Distribution Centre has been able to recover arrears of around Rs 50 million after reconnecting the disconnected transmission line.

“In the past five months, we have disconnected the power supply of around 5,500 consumers and the arrears have reached around Rs 63 million,” Mishra said, adding, “Out of the power cuts, 4,500 consumers have been reconnected and around Rs 50 million dues have been recollected.” ”

The distribution center has been continuously conducting arrears recovery campaign by cutting the line of customers who have not paid the bill for a long time. Centre Chief Mishra said that the monitoring has also been intensified for improving power supply and controlling irregularities.

As per the law, the electricity tariff for the use of the power line should be paid within 60 days. Consumers who fail to pay bills within that period will now be automatically penalized. He said that the campaign to cut the line of customers who do not pay their dues has made customers aware to pay their bills on time.

The Nepalgunj Distribution Centre has been monitoring the condition of irrigation, household and other customers even on public holidays in order to improve electricity service and control electricity leakage in the district.

Banke: Electricity supply has improved in the district in the last few months thanks to improved service improvement and leakage control. With the addition of new feeders, the problem of overload has reduced and the supply will not be disrupted even in summer, said Mishra.

The Nepalgunj distribution center, No-Light branch, is removing bare wires at important places and expanding the cables. According to him, the maintenance section has also taken necessary precaution to prevent supply disruption through regular monitoring, which has further improved the power theft control, misuse and service delivery.
