Kathmandu. The government has banned the registration of new public vehicles including electric vehicles across the country. According to the Department of Transport Management, the registration has been banned due to increasing air pollution and traffic jams.
The Department has directed the concerned ministries and local levels of all the provinces to stop the registration of public vehicles with electric vehicles.
The Department has stated in the circular that there is difficulty in transportation due to lack of scientific management of public transport. The government has decided to stop the registration of public vehicles in order to manage the public vehicles in view of the inconvenience situation created by the rising price of fuel and excessive pressure of vehicles.
The Department has stated that it has done so on the basis of Section 24 (3) of the Motor Vehicles and Transport Management Act, 2049.
