Kathmandu. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal (ICAN) has participated in the “Accountex London 2026” and FD Show 2026 for the first time in London.
In the event held on May 13 and 14, ICAN set up its own stall and presented Nepal as a potential destination for outsourcing of accounting and financial services in the international market. It is one of the largest accounting and financial exhibitions in the world.
A delegation led by the President of ICAN including the Vice President, Council members and Executive Director attended the program. The main objective of the participation was to establish Nepal as a competitive country providing accounting and financial services under the Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO).
The exhibition featured more than 16,000 delegates, more than 300 international exhibitors and 240 professional development sessions. On the occasion, ICAN met and held discussions with international accountants, regulatory bodies and financial technology related institutions.
ICANN’s participation has attracted significant international attention and has received positive feedback about the possibility of outsourcing accounting services from Nepal. It has been concluded that there is a huge potential for exporting professional accounting services from Nepal if it can further strengthen technical capacity, corporate governance and data security standards.
The ICAN delegation also held high-level meetings with Nepali accountants and international accountants in the UK. On the occasion, a discussion was held with the Institute of Nepali Accountants (NAA UK) regarding the opportunities of outsourcing of accounting and financial services between Nepal and the UK. The meeting also agreed to take initiatives to bring British accountancy to Nepal through Nepali professionals in the UK.
Likewise, discussions were held with international organizations like ACCA and ICAEW on mutual cooperation, professional development and mutual recognition. The ICAN delegation also participated in the special conference on “UK-Nepal Collaboration: Possibilities of Investment and Accounting Outsourcing” organized by the Embassy of Nepal in the UK.
The conference was attended by businessmen, regulators and accounting professionals from the UK. In the program, a presentation was made on the economic benefits of outsourcing in Nepal, the compatibility of the time zone and the skilled manpower in Nepal.
According to ICAN, these activities held in London have played an important role in expanding Nepal’s accountancy profession in the international arena. It is believed that this will create an opportunity for Nepali professionals to provide international services while staying in the country, as well as help in earning foreign currency and increasing employment.
The organization has pledged to make Nepal a world-class accounting outsourcing destination in the future through necessary policy reforms, international promotion, use of modern accounting software and strengthening regulatory structure.
