Kathmandu. Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa has warned the government not to show arrogance on the basis of numbers.

Speaking at a program organized in Sunsari, the Nepali Congress urged the government to be accountable and address the issues of people’s livelihood. Here are five questions and suggestions made by Thapa to the government.

Thapa urged Prime Minister Balendra Shah to take into consideration the constitutional limit just because he has two-thirds majority and is popular. “Let the government keep in mind, no one can violate the constitution and laws,” Thapa said. ’

Thapa said that the settlements of squatters cannot be demolished just because they have power and position. “If the government manages the settlements, it will be with us,” Thapa said, adding, “Can we demolish the settlements without managing the squatters?” He warned them to work according to the responsibility laid down by the law even though it was the responsibility to vacate the encroachment. Thapa expressed anger over the government’s arbitrary arrest of industrialists, businessmen and bankers.

“The contractor was picked up by police from his house for not giving him time to meet the minister,” Thapa said, adding, “We heard that the CEO of the bank was also arrested without any reason.” Thapa warned not to arrest anyone who is not satisfied. “There is disagreement on the activities against the law and the NC will retaliate if such acts are repeated,” Thapa said. Thapa said that the Nepali Congress is alive and not to feel weak. “The government should not be arrogant just because we have the numbers,” Thapa said.

Where is the seriousness of the citizen’s livelihood?
