Chitwan. Saturday morning was special for martyr’s wife Sunita Rai. Akshay Golyan, Chairman and Managing Director of Golyan Group, reached his residence in Baseni of Bharatpur-11 early this morning. “I have come to congratulate my daughter,” Akshay said, “We have full support to fulfill the dream left by him (martyr Sar Kumar), so we have come here to share happiness.” ’
Golyan is now educating the children of 32 Genji movement martyrs, including Sunita-Sarkumar’s daughter Aakriti. They spend Rs 4.80 lakh annually on their education. Aakriti, the 15-year-old daughter of Sunita and late Sar Kumar, is the first martyr to pass the SEE. She passed the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) of 2082 with 3.40 GPA from Manshiksha Mandir Residential Secondary School in Chitwan.
Saying that Akriti’s achievement in SEE is special, the representatives of Golyan Group reached her house to congratulate her. “I never thought that you would come home like this,” Sunita said, “I really feel that there is someone for us.” ’
The relationship of the martyr’s family with the Golyan Group is very strained. Sarkumar’s dream was linked to his daughter Aakriti. Give the daughter a good education, teach her the subject she wants. To fulfill his daughter’s dream, he stayed in Kathmandu and worked as a painter. Aakriti used to study in Chitwan with her mother Sunita. Sar Kumar became a martyr in the Jenji movement of September 23-24, 2002. This struck a blow to Akriti’s dream.
Sunita’s biggest worry was – how to educate her daughter now? With the martyrdom of Sar Kumar, Sunita lost her support and Akriti’s dream was shattered.
Similarly, in the last week of September 2082, the Golyan Group announced that the children of martyrs would be educated up to class 12. Such declarations and commitments made in times of grief are limited only to sympathy. Sunita felt the same way at first. She didn’t pay much attention to the group’s announcement. But when Golyan made a written agreement with her to fulfill the promise within a week, Sunita heaved a sigh of relief.
Not only her family, but also her family and the school she is studying are happy after Aakriti passed the SEE with excellent marks. Jyoti Gaire, Head of Corporate Affairs, Communications & PR at Golyan Group, said, “It is a proud moment for the nation as the first of the descendants of Genji Shaheed to pass the SEE. ’
Indresh Shah, principal of Manshiksha Mandir, said that Akriti studied from class 8 to 10. “If this incident had not happened, we expected her to score better marks in SEE, but she passed with good marks,” he said.
Aakriti has decided to study science in class plus-two. She has also been admitted to Aroma English Secondary School in Chitwan. Her dream is to study science and graduate in nursing. This was his father’s dream. “Even though my father has passed away, your support has given me a lot of courage to handle the time of grief and move forward, I will try to do better in the coming days,” Akriti told Akshay, who reached home, “Your support and cooperation is not valuable, if I can reach my goal, maybe this support will be respected.” ’
Sher Bahadur Chhetri, principal of the school, praised the role of guardians of Golyan Group and said that special attention would be paid to provide quality education to Aakriti. “It is a matter of great happiness that a brilliant student like Aakriti has come to our school, because of her, we have also got a relationship with a prestigious organization like Golyan Group,” he said, adding, “Now we all have to fulfill the dreams of the children of martyrs.” ’
She expressed happiness that Golyan Group has taken the responsibility of fulfilling the dream of her husband’s daughter. “Now my dream is that my daughter should be able to study and progress,” she said, adding, “For us, the government is the guardian, you are the guardian.” ’
