Kathmandu. Australia’s population has reached 28 million, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) estimates Australia’s population at 28 million, based on growth trends.

The population exceeded 27 million in 2024, two years later on Tuesday, according to Australian Eastern Standard Time.

According to the ABS, on average, every foreign national arrives in Australia every 59 seconds, and a baby is born in Australia every two minutes and 16 seconds. It is estimated that one person dies every three minutes and 33 seconds, and every two minutes and 35 seconds, one resident leaves Australia to live overseas.

The ABS expects Australia’s population to reach 30 million by 2031. The ABS said it will conduct its first national census since 2021 in August.
