. Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment Ramji Yadav has announced to celebrate the next 10 years as the ‘decade for promotion of domestic employment’.

Minister Yadav said that new challenges have been added to the global labour market due to change in technology along with ‘artificial intelligence’ (AI), climate change and labour mobility.TAG_OPEN_div_25 Pointing out the risk that these changes could widen inequalities and skills gaps if not properly planned, he said effective trilateral cooperation and the role of the ILO were crucial to ensure human dignity and social justice.

Minister Yadav said that Nepal has set a target to create employment opportunities in the country through technological and policy reforms for digital economy and youth self-employment.TAG_OPEN_div_23 The government is investing in AI infrastructure, digital startups, and remote work. He highlighted the need for a ‘gig economy’ and international standards to ensure clear agreements, data privacy and business safety for work being done through digital means.

On the occasion, Minister Yadav said that Nepal is preparing a unified ‘National Care Economy Policy’ for the first time in its history.TAG_OPEN_div_21 According to him, the Labour Inspection Convention 1947 and the Mandatory Labour Protocol 2014 have been presented in the Federal Parliament for its endorsement.
