HISSAN signs MoU with HISSAN: Nationwide campaign of “AI for Educators” begins in all 7 provinces

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Computer Association of Nepal (CAN Federation) and Higher Institutions and Secondary Schools’ Association Nepal (HISSAN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with an aim to transform Nepal’s education sector in a digital era.

With this agreement, HISSAN has now joined CAN as a ‘Sustainability Partner’. Together, the two premier institutions will conduct a nationwide workshop series on AI for Teachers in all 7 provinces of Nepal.

This bilateral partnership aims to bridge the gap between educational governance and development of local technology. Instead of making students just ordinary users of technology, it is necessary to make teachers tech-savvy and proficient to make them inventors and creators.

CAN Federation Acting President Chiranjibi Adhikari and HISSAN Central President Yubaraj Sharma signed the MoU. General Secretary of CAN Federation Chandra Bilas Bhurtel, Treasurer Bikram Singh, General Secretary of HISSAN Ramhari Silwal and President of Bagmati Province Raj Kumar Acharya were present on the occasion.

The conceptual framework and technical design of AI for Educator was developed by Chiranjibi Adhikari, an established leader in the information technology sector and Acting President of CAN Federation.

The 3 main objectives of the partnership are Nationwide Teacher Capacity Building: To conduct hands-on, hands-on workshops for teachers and professors from all seven provinces on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation.

Educational Information Technology Transformation: HISSAN will assist in assisting in the assessment and strengthening of secure communication networks, data automation frameworks, and cloud ecosystems in educational institutions.

Similarly, the standardization of the curriculum includes prompt engineering, AI-based teaching material production, digital security, and academic integrity in the curriculum.

Under this agreement, CAN Federation will mobilize its provincial and district chapters and official technical implementation partners will be mobilized to conduct high-level specialized trainings. HISSAN will lead the initiative, coordinating with its member colleges and taking responsibility for the necessary infrastructure, computer labs and internet for the provincial training centers.

Chiranjibi Adhikari, Acting President of CAN Federation, said, “The real digital transformation begins in the classroom. By equipping our teachers with advanced skills such as AI, data science, and digital security, we are laying a strong foundation for young minds in Nepal to become the technology stars and creators of the future. The conceptual framework and technical design of AI for Educators, which is the backbone of this nationwide campaign, was developed by Chiranjibi Adhikari, an established leader in the information technology sector and acting president of CAN Federation.

“This historic MoU with CAN Federation is not only a pact, but also a strong starting point to usher HISSAN and its member institutions into the digital era. Through this collaboration, we will build a strong digital platform and ecosystem in Nepal, which will enable our students and teachers to compete in the global market,” said Mr. Yubaraj Sharma, President of HISSAN Central.

This strategic partnership between CAN Federation and HISSAN opens a new dimension to the Nepali education world wherein our secondary and higher secondary educational institutions will be able to compete as per the demands of the global digital economy.”
