Beni-Jomsom road reopened after 12 hours

Kathmandu. MYAGDI: Vehicular movement along the Beni-Jomsom road linking Mustang to the national highway via Myagdi district has come to operation after 12 hours after the removal of boulders piled up on the road.

Sohail Miya, 23, of Birgunj Metropolitan City died when a stone fell down on his vehicle at Mahavir of Annapurna rural municipality-6 in Myagdi district last night.

Supervisor of the Beni-Jomsom-Korala Road Project, Indra Singh Sherchan said the vehicular movement has come to resume since this morning by clearing the boulders piled up on the road with the mobilization of equipment of the Department of Roads. The stranded vehicles are on their way to their destinations.

Mia was trapped alone inside a vehicle where a stone had fallen. Police Inspector Sagar Timilsina said that Miya was rescued in an unconscious state and brought to the State Hospital Beni by the doctors declared him dead last night.
