Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office has arrested an Indian national in possession of illegal Nepali currency, US dollars, gold and silver.
The arrested is Amitirgonda Ghali, 33, from Sangli, Tasgaon taluka, Jharkhand and currently residing in Kathmandu metropolis-25, Thahiti, according to Superintendent of Police Rameshwor Karki, spokesperson of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office.
“Our team apprehended him based on a tip-off that some persons were involved in illegal foreign exchange (US dollars) and evading tax and transport, storage and sale of gold and silver,” he said. ”
Police confiscated 730,000 Nepali dollars, 34,500 US dollars, 17 pieces of yellow metal weighing 75 grams and 2.60 kilograms of silver from his possession.
The arrested have been sent to the Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI), Harihar Bhawan, Lalitpur for further investigation and necessary actions, said spokesperson Karki.
