Kathmandu. The government has started distributing land ownership certificates from Bardiya.

The land ownership certificates were distributed to 29 landless Dalit and landless squatter families of Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality-4 in Bardiya district.

The locals, who have not been able to own the land in their name for a long time, have become legal landowners after getting the land ownership certificates. With this, the locals will now be able to easily avail banking services, loan facilities and other government services.

The Ministry of Land Management, Federal Affairs and General Administration has said that the distribution of land ownership certificates would be carried out more effectively as per the government’s goal of resolving the problems of landless Dalits, landless squatters and unsystematic settlers in a long-term manner.

Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Federal Affairs Pratibha Rawal has said that the government has accorded top priority to addressing the problems of landless Dalits, landless squatters and unsystematic settlers. Minister Rawal said that the distribution of land ownership certificates would be gradually expanded across the country and the genuine landless people would be given legal ownership of the land.
