Sugarcane farmers paid around Rs 2 billion

Mahottari Farmers in Mahottari district have received payment of around Rs two billion for sugarcane paid to two sugar mills of Mahottari.

Everest Sugar and Chemical Industries at Gaushala Municipality-1 and Siddhibinayak Sugar and Chemical Industries at Gaushala Municipality-12 in the district paid Rs TAG_OPEN_div_16 1.76 billion 52 lakh 46 thousand 455 to the sugarcane farmers, according to the District Administration Office, Mahottari.

The records show that farmers in both the industries submitted 2,867,986 quintals of 96 kg sugarcane in the fiscal year 2082/83.TAG_OPEN_div_14 Kameshwor Yadav, administrative officer at the office, said that out of the total price of sugarcane, Rs 1.76 billion has been paid.

Similarly, the government has recommended the Fund and Financial Comptroller Office, Mahottari, to pay the subsidy to the sugarcane farmers.TAG_OPEN_div_12 Yadav said that the District Payments Committee has recommended Rs 200.759 million for the grant.

There is a payment committee under the chairmanship of the Chief District Officer for recommending payment in the district. According to the District Administration Office, Mahottari, all the payment of sugarcane price and subsidy will be made by mid-July.
