I have come to serve the country, not to perform stunts, says Home Minister Gurung targeting Mahar

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Home Minister Sudan Gurung has said that the government was committed to serve the people and that he had come to serve the country and not to perform stunts. He was referring to the statement made by CPN-UML lawmaker Ain Bahadur Mahar in the parliament.

Speaking about the treatment and rescue efforts of Ganesh Nepali, Home Minister Gurung claimed that the government was making every possible effort to save him.TAG_OPEN_div_22 According to him, preparations were also made to take him to India if needed.

“We were all working to save Ganesh Nepali. All preparations were made to take him to India. There was coordination with the Indian Embassy and I myself reached the airport at night. But according to the doctors, the chances of saving him were slim,” he said.

He also refuted the allegation that the traffic police had imposed ‘wheel lock’ on the vehicles.TAG_OPEN_div_18 According to him, the action was taken by the city police and not the traffic police.

“The wheel lock is not worn by the traffic police, it is worn by the city police. The local government concerned is not led by the Rastriya Swatantra Party. The rules and regulations that are being implemented now were made by the previous government. We have enforced those laws,” he said.

Home Minister Gurung said that the government would be run as per the law and procedure, adding that debate should be held on the basis of facts rather than political accusations.TAG_OPEN_div_14
