Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in the hilly and Tarai areas of some States in the next two days as the influence of the monsoon wind continues throughout the country.
According to Meteorological Forecasting Division, the monsoon low pressure trough is a little above the average location in the west and close to the Tarai region of Nepal in the east. Due to its influence, the weather will be generally to completely cloudy throughout the country. Light to moderate rain is taking place at some places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces and at one or two places of the Sudurpaschim province at present.
The weather will be cloudy throughout the country in the afternoon. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, there is the possibility of moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in the high hilly and mountainous areas while there is likelihood of snowfall in the high mountainous region. Thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds is likely to occur at many places of Madhes province, Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and at some places of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces. According to Meteorological Forecasting Division, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places of the hilly and Tarai regions of Madhes, Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
Similarly, it will be generally cloudy in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces while it will be generally to completely cloudy in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces. There are chances of heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places of the hilly region of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and at some places of the Tarai region of Madhes and Madhes provinces. Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places of the hilly region of the province, the Division said.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall on Sunday and Monday in the hilly region of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and at some places of the Tarai region including Madhes.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division has urged one and all to keep the weather information to be issued by the Division regularly as it could affect daily life, agriculture, health service, tourism, mountaineering, road and air transport.
