Karnali. Consumers are worried about how to light stoves due to shortage of cooking gas in Surkhet.

Although Bheri, Rapti, Manakamana, Radiant and other gases are imported to Surkhet, the situation has surfaced in the recent situation where consumers are not able to get cooking gas easily.

Sharmila Budha, a local consumer, lamented that she has not been able to get gas even after going for four days in a row. “We have been queuing up since 2:00 am to get gas, but we have not been able to get it,” Budha lamented. “Retailers sell up to Rs 2,400 per cylinder and they are struggling to get gas at the same price,” he lamented.

A team led by Assistant Chief District Officer (CDO) Dil Bahadur Karki, Nepal Oil Corporation, Nepal Oil Corporation, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Welfare Forum, politicians and journalists carried out monitoring of the gas supply and dealers.

The monitoring team found that there was shortage of cooking gas due to high demand and very low supply, Assistant Chief District Officer Karki said. “Although various types of cooking gas are used here, Bheri Gas is now distributing only to the consumers,” he said. Today, 1,100 LPG cylinders have arrived and 1,800 will be imported tomorrow. We will create an environment where consumers can easily get it under the supervision of the police administration. ”

He said that the distribution work could not be managed due to the lack of data regarding the exact number of cylinders required by the consumers in Surkhet. According to Karki, 400 consumers have been asked to return LPG from RC Suppliers and other retailers in Surkhet who bought LPG at Rs 2,060 and sold it to consumers at Rs 2,400.
