Prachanda urges PM to initiate all-party dialogue and consensus by taking all political parties into confidence

Kathmandu. Coordinator of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the situation emerging in Dewangunj of Sunsari should be eased through dialogue, consensus and political understanding.

In an all-party meeting called by Rastriya Swatantra Party President Rabi Lamichhane to discuss the Sunsari incident among other issues, leader Pokharel called on all political parties, government and stakeholders to move ahead together keeping social harmony, peace and mutual trust at the centre.

“This is not the time to increase political bitterness, but to demonstrate national responsibility. The incident should be investigated impartially and action should be taken against the guilty,” he said. Stating that the use of force would not be a long-term solution to any problem, Dahal stressed that the government should become more responsible, active and sensitive in the current situation.

Former Prime Minister Dahal suggested the Prime Minister to immediately take the initiative for all-party dialogue and consensus by taking all political parties into confidence.

Recalling that the political parties had presented an example of common consensus and national unity in the past during the complex process like earthquake, flood and landslide and constitution-drafting, coordinator Dahal pointed out the need of political maturity, dialogue and responsibility even today.

He said that the party has already made its official views public on the Sunsari incident and directed the party hierarchy to maintain restraint and social harmony at the local level.

Coordinator Dahal said that all sides need to remain high alert as not only the local people but also the elements creating environment could be active in the incident site.
