Medical Education Commission approves Rs 6.5 billion budget

Kathmandu. The Medical Education Commission has approved programmes and budget worth Rs 6.55 billion for the current fiscal year 2083/84.

The 27th meeting of the Commission held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Balendra Shah approved programmes and budget worth Rs 5.99 billion allocated by the government and Rs 560.4 million as internal resources of the Commission.

The meeting also decided to spend Rs 560 million for the current fiscal year out of a total of Rs 1.34 billion 85 million 96 thousand 267 which is surplus of Rs 998 million from internal sources and Rs 350 million from various internal sources in the current fiscal year.

Out of the sanctioned budget, Rs 474.22 million has been allocated from internal sources and Rs 86.2 million towards capital expenditure.

Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel, Minister for Health and Food Hygiene Nisha Mehta, Commission Vice-chair Prof Dr Devendra Bahadur Khatri and Commission’s member-secretary and joint-secretary Basanta Prasad Koirala were present in the meeting.
