Kathmandu. The Ministry of Home Affairs and the families of Om Prakash Mehta and Jaya Prakash Mehata, who were killed in the incident that took place on July 26 at Kamagachhi of Dewangunj Rural Municipality-3, have signed a seven-point agreement.

As per the agreement, the government would immediately expedite the process of declaring the deceased as martyrs and would provide Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased.

Likewise, an impartial and effective investigation would be conducted into the incident and necessary action would be taken against the guilty as per the prevailing law. It has also been agreed to immediately initiate investigation into the legal status of the Madrasa at Dewangunj Rural Municipality-3.

The agreement also includes providing employment opportunity to one eligible member from the family of each deceased, implementing the suggestions of the report of the probe committee formed to study the incident and constructing a memorial park in the rural municipality at a suitable place in the memory of the deceased in coordination with the local government.

The agreement was signed by Home Minister Sudhan Gurung and the representatives of the families of the deceased.

Following the agreement, the victims’ families have expressed confidence that the government would implement its promises on time.
