Govt tightens 10 percent free bed service

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Health and Food and Hygiene has made public the details of the hospitals providing services and responsible contact persons across the country for the effective implementation of 10 per cent free health service. Releasing the list of free beds on Monday, the Ministry said that it has assigned liaison officers of each hospital to ensure patients’ access to free bed service and to coordinate immediately if they receive complaints.

The details made public by the Ministry include federal, provincial, community, teaching and private hospitals. The name and phone number of the focal person of each hospital have been fixed so that the patient or service recipient can contact him directly in case of any problem related to free treatment.

The Ministry has further tightened monitoring and coordination to implement the 10 per cent free health service guaranteed by the Work Procedure. The ministry has already launched an online portal for managing free beds and has made it mandatory for the hospitals to update the details of reserved beds regularly.

The Ministry has urged the service seekers to get information regarding free treatment using the contact details made public if necessary, to lodge complaints in case of problems and to coordinate in availing service.
