Kathmandu. Police in plain clothes have been mobilized at various gas depots in the Kathmandu Valley in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Industry following information that black marketing of cooking gas was taking place.

Although there was no problem in the import of LPG from India, the Ministry of Industry started receiving complaints and information that black marketing was being done by creating artificial shortage in the market.

On the occasion, Minister Yadav urged Home Minister Sudan Gurung to mobilize police for monitoring of the cooking gas supply in the country.

Following Minister Yadav’s request, Home Minister Gurung gave necessary directives to the police administration. Accordingly, security personnel in plain clothes have been mobilized at various gas depots in the Kathmandu Valley since Sunday morning.

The police have been mobilized to take immediate action if any activities like hiding the gas, creating artificial scarcity, selling it at more than the fixed price or black marketeering are found.

According to the Home Ministry, police in plain clothes would be mobilized at gas depots and sales centres in other districts as well, based on the information gathered from the monitoring carried out in the Kathmandu Valley.

KATHMANDU: The government has made preparations to further tighten the monitoring to control black marketing, making it clear that any activities that inconvenience the consumers by creating artificial shortage would not be acceptable despite the easy supply of cooking gas.
