Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The National Sports Council (NSC) has dominated its board for the first time.

Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel nominated Dhaniram Chaudhary and Lalita Nath for the post.

Minister Pokharel nominated them to the vacant posts as per the National Sports Development Act through a ministerial decision.

Dhaniram, who is currently working as a coach, is a former national runner. He holds the record in the 400 and 800 meters. Lalita Nath is a former national volleyball player. He is currently associated with the Karnali Youth Team.

Currently, Bishal Shrestha is the vice-president of the NSC. He is a former football player (goalkeeper). Board member Sikka Suwal Shrestha is also a former table tennis player. She has reached the 510th position in the world women’s table tennis rankings. He is also the winner of Stegg Global Champion League-2080.

Shakti Gauchan is also a member of the board. Gauchan is a former cricketer. He is also a skilled coach. He has made a great contribution to the development of Nepali cricket.

Board member Monalisa Khambu is also a former player. He is known to be a good chess player. She was selected for the Asian Games in 2006 and became the first female chess player from Nepal in the international level. She is the highest rated Nepali female player (1877). Former football player Pawan Shahi is also a board member of the council.
