Myagdi. In a year, 165 industries and businesses have been added and 82 have been closed.

In the fiscal year 2082/83, 70 industries and 95 businesses were registered with the Integrated Service Office. During this period, the registration of 41 industries and businesses was canceled, said Shamsher Gharti Chhetri, chief of the office.

According to him, 561 industries and 483 businesses have been renewed. So far, 3,490 industries and 3,055 businesses have been registered in Myagdi. According to Pabi Thapa, an officer of the office, a revenue of Rs 19.30 lakh was collected in the last fiscal year from the renewal of registration of industries and businesses.

Last year, the revenue was Rs 30,25,774. In the last few years, the number of closures of industries in Myagdi has increased compared to business registration. Due to the economic slowdown, the registration of businesses has decreased and the rate of closure has increased due to the migration of entrepreneurs and businessmen to alternative professions.

In the fiscal year 2081/82, 70 industries and 85 businesses were registered in Myagdi, while 42 industries and 48 commercial firms were closed. In the fiscal year 2080/81, 211 industries and businesses were registered, out of which 84 were canceled. In the fiscal year 2080/81, 14 industries and 29 commercial firms were scrapped. In the fiscal year 2079/80, 101 industries and 110 commercial firms were registered.

President of Myagdi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Subin Shrestha said decreasing population, migration, foreign employment, PAN number from Inland Revenue Office only by registering at local level and economic recession following the coronavirus pandemic have affected the registration and scrapping of industries and businesses.

Chairman Shrestha said that although the business of fancy, hardware, hotels and restaurants has decreased, the shutters have not been closed and the tourism-oriented hotel business has increased. Chairman Shrestha said that the entrepreneurs and businessmen of the rural areas have started not registering at the local level and getting PAN number by registering at the local level.
