28 night buses to be operated in Kathmandu Valley from September 19

Kathmandu. Acting Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol has reached Bhaktapur Municipality and Madhyapur Thimi Municipality today with a proposal for inter-city cooperation, coordination and partnership for the operation of night transport service.

He was accompanied by Chief Administrative Officer Mukti Ram Aryal, Director Basanta Acharya, Chairman of Sajha Yatayat Sushil Raj Pyakurel and Executive Director Bhupendra Aryal. He met with Bhaktapur Municipality Mayor Sunil Prajapati, Deputy Mayor Rajani Joshi, Mayor of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality Surendra Shrestha and Deputy Mayor Bijay Krishna Shrestha.

In the meeting, acting chief Dangol said, “Today, I have come with the agenda of cooperating for the operation of night transport. This is a transboundary issue. It should not be limited to any geographical or administrative boundary. In order to facilitate the life of the people of the Kathmandu Valley and to increase the economic activities, the municipalities in which night transport is operated. We have discussed in many phases about starting the service in such a way that these municipalities will have ownership. We have also conducted a 3-month trial for this. This has shown the possibility of operating night bus service through inter-city partnership. Let’s cooperate in this. ’

After listening to the proposal of acting mayor Dangol, Mayor Prajapati of Bhaktapur Municipality recalled her experience during the operation of trolley buses. It was very easy for the locals to commute. When the trolley bus was discontinued, the problem started increasing. After that, the problem in public transport started increasing. It became even more difficult as it was evening. Therefore, the proposal of operating a systematic public transport presented by Kathmandu Metropolitan City is positive. We will hold internal discussions on this proposal. ’

Stating that this type of service is very important, she said that this type of service should not be seen only from the point of view of profit and loss.

The people of Bhaktapur have a house with the people of Kathmandu and Lalitpur. Due to the lack of public transport in the evening, it was difficult to commute from home and maintain the culture, culture and traditions. Deputy Mayor of Bhaktapur Municipality Joshi said, “This is an essential service. Everyone should take responsibility and operate it.” ’

Sushil Pyakurel, chairman of the Sajha Transport Steering Committee, said that the common transport will be operated in partnership with the local government. This will increase the number of passengers. “The initiative taken by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City for this will increase the easy access of public transport among the workers and students. It will be easier for businessmen, patients and domestic tourists to operate night businesses. ’

This service will start from September 19. The service is planned to run from 8 pm to 12 noon. To provide more convenience to the passengers through this service, charging stations will be set up at different places of the municipality and the target is to provide the service to the students from early morning.

The government has invested Rs 3 billion in Sajha Yatayat and Rs 150 million in Kathmandu Metropolitan City. At present, there are 111 buses in Sajha Yatayat. Ward Chairman Shyam Krishna Khatri, Hariram Suwal and other officials were present in the discussion.

After Bhaktapur Municipality, the acting mayor reached Madhyapur Thimi Municipality. After proposing partnership with the mayor and deputy mayor there, both the mayor and deputy mayor said that they are willing to partner in commendable work.

Mayor Shrestha said, “Earlier, Madhyapur was very accessible. With the completion of the trolley bus, we became like a remote place. Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s plan to operate night transport will make it easier for us again. We are committed to cooperate in this.” ’

From September 19, 28 electric buses of Sajha Yatayat will be started connecting both the north-south and east-west parts of the Kathmandu Valley. Under this, 6 buses will be operated from Godawari to Budhanilkantha, 6 buses from Jagati of Bhaktapur to Thamel via Ratnapark, 4 buses from Airport to Nagdhunga of Chandragiri, 4 buses from Kirtipur to New Road of Kathmandu to Nepal Airlines Corporation and 8 buses to two-way route on the Ring Road.

After getting transport service on the Ring Road, you will be able to change the bus at one place and reach every place where the service is operated. The maximum fare for this journey will be Rs 80.
