India to supply 654 MW of electricity to Nepal daily

Kathmandu. The Government of India has decided to provide 654 MW of electricity daily to Nepal. The Ministry of Energy of India issued a press release today.

The government has decided to provide electricity to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) from 12 am to 6 pm from September 13 to December 31. According to India, a maximum of 600 MW of electricity will be provided through the Muzaffarpur-Dhalkebar 400 kV double circuit transmission line and 54 MW through the Tanakpur-Mahendranagar 132 kV single circuit transmission line.TAG_OPEN_div_10

India has said that electricity exports from January 2027 onwards will be reviewed in December 2026.TAG_OPEN_div_8

The infrastructure of the hydropower project has been affected due to the severe floods in the Bhotekoshi River of Rasuwa on August 23. India has said that it is committed to help Nepal in difficult times and to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector.
