Mustang. The ‘Gharpajhong Climate Conference 2083’ is kicking off in Mustang from today. Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Gita Chaudhary is inaugurating the conference today. People’s representatives of 421 local levels and 36 district coordination committees have arrived in Mustang on Monday evening to participate in the conference.
More than two thousand guests including people’s representatives from metropolis, sub-metropolis, municipalities and rural municipalities of all seven provinces have arrived in Mustang till Monday evening, said Bhim Kumar Basnet, Chief Administrative Officer of Gharpajhong Rural Municipality. Arrangements have been made for the guests to stay in local hotels.
Rural municipality vice-chair Jamuna Thakali said village societies, mothers’ groups, youth clubs and other organisations of all five wards have been mobilized for the management of the conference.
According to Vice-Chairperson Thakali, the team of mothers’ group will arrange breakfast, lunch and snacks for the guests coming to the conference venue at the conference venue. Arrangement for dinner and lodging has been made in the hotel designated by the rural municipality, said Vice-Chairperson Thakali.
To make the conference a grand one, the streets and settlements of all the five wards of the rural municipality have been decorated with flags and butterflies along with local art and culture.
Street lights have been installed on the main highway roads and inner roads of the rural municipality. Health workers and volunteers have been mobilized for the health check-up of the guests.
Preparations have been made to ensure that there is no problem with drinking water, internet and electricity services. Similarly, parking of vehicles and traffic management have been eased. Information Officer of the rural municipality, Bikash Sajyal, said that necessary decorations have been made for the conference to be held at Jomsom Covered Hall.
Inside the venue, a 28-feet tall balloon has been placed in the shape of a balloon crying out to the earth, reflecting awareness about the impact of climate change.
Similarly, more than fifty stalls have been set up for the promotion of agricultural products of Mustang, said Roshan Thakali, agriculture section officer of the rural municipality. The two-day conference will issue a declaration on the impact of climate change.
