Kathmandu. Devotees have been queuing up in the capital and other major parts of the country since this morning to worship Lord Shri Ganesh, the destroyer of obstacles.

There is a classical belief that Lord Ganesha was born on the day of Bhadra Shukla Chaturthi in the Satyayug. On this occasion, devotees have been queuing up since early morning to celebrate the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha by performing special pujas at Ganesh temples across the country including Ashokbinayak, Chandrabinayak, Surya Binayak, Kamaladi Ganesh.

Ganesh, the son of Shiva and Parvati, has the right to perform Agra Puja in any religious ritual. According to theologian Prof. Dr. Devmani Bhattarai, there is a classical belief that fasting for Ganesh is done by reciting Haritalika (Teej fast).

It is mentioned in the Ganesh Purana that on the day of Bhadra Shukla Tritiya, the devotees who wish for a happy married life and happiness and peace should worship Ganesha on the day of Chaturthi. Also known as Mangal Chaturthi, the Newar community celebrates this day as the fourth festival. On this day, it is customary to distribute ‘Chhusyamusya’ to children. This year, this festival has special significance as it falls on Tuesday.

On this occasion, Rastriya Dharma Sabha Nepal has been celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi festival by organizing various programs since 2065 BS. Chairman of the Dharma Sabha Prof Dr. Madhav Bhattarai said that discourses along with worship were organized in different Ganesh temples today.

On this occasion, he said that there is a program of worshiping Ganesh on behalf of the organization by visiting various Ganesh temples today. The National Dharma Sabha has been organizing the Ganesh Rath Yatra since 2065 BS. The Rath Yatra is performed on the day of Bhadra Shukla Panchami. This year, Bhadra Shukla Panchami also falls on this day, according to the committee. Therefore, the Ganesh Rath Yatra is also being organized today.
