Kathmandu. Sujan Katuwal, who is active in community and humanitarian service in the UK, handed over the amount collected for the flood victims of Nepal to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle.

Panas Gorkha Restaurant and Panas Helping Hands in Blackheath, London, collected money collected from customers, donors and local communities for relief and rehabilitation in flood-affected areas.

After the devastating floods in Nepal, Katuwal and his team launched a relief campaign with the aim of helping the affected families. Katuwal said that the money collected through the campaign was handed over to the Finance Minister for the purpose of using it for immediate relief and rehabilitation of the flood victims in Nepal.

Katuwal has also made preparations to make an on-site inspection of the flood-affected areas along with the handing over of the assistance. He said that he will meet the affected communities directly to understand their situation, needs and long-term rehabilitation challenges.

“Sympathy alone is not enough, it should be translated into action. I would like to be present among the affected communities and listen to them and understand how we can effectively help in rehabilitation and reconstruction,” Katuwal said.

Katuwal has been active in community and humanitarian service in the UK for a long time. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he provided more than 250,000 free meals to the UK’s National Health Service, Gurkha ex-servicemen, the homeless and the needy.

Even after the pandemic, Panas’s community service has continued. The team has been providing hot Gorkhali meals to the homeless in London every Tuesday. Katuwal has also been awarded an MBE in recognition of his contribution to community service.

Katuwal expressed his gratitude to the customers, donors, friends and the Blackheath community who supported the campaign for the flood victims of Nepal. He thanked all those who supported and supported the campaign and expressed his commitment to continue supporting the rehabilitation of the affected communities in Nepal.
