Kathmandu. The government has started the repair of 12 suspension bridges damaged in the flood-affected areas. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, repair of damaged suspension bridges in Kalikasthan, Malinga, Majhuwatar Dovan, Mahadeva Master, Chirondi Khola, Sheetal Bazaar, Curenitar and Belkhu Bhutia of Dhading has already started.

Similarly, repair of Keureni Gahote, Pimaltar Jagaram, Kotpu Kalleri, Phosretar and Filling bridges connecting Nuwakot and Dhading and Badre suspension bridges connecting Gorkha and Dhading has also started. The ministry said that work is underway to bring these bridges into operation by October 20.

In addition, necessary technical and administrative preparations have been made for the repair of eight more suspension bridges affected by the floods. The first phase of the material has been supplied to the site by signing agreements with various construction companies for the purchase of decks and other materials required for the repair, while the process of purchasing steel parts of the second phase has been initiated.

Apart from this, the ministry has already called for tenders on September 3 for the reconstruction of 33 completely damaged suspension bridges in the corridor. The government has called for tenders to purchase sticks, bulldog grips and other materials that are essential for the construction and maintenance of the bridge.
